Environment project - WIP 1

I've already mentioned in previous post that I've decided to create an environment for a strategy game about  alien ants. Ants are made for strategies - they have different classes of units, various facilities, collect resources and fend off enemies. Any ant species have a queen, who is an egg fabric, a king, whose only role is to inseminate the queen, and peons - workers, foragers and soldiers. Leafcutter ants even grow fungi on the decomposed leaves they gather as their food source. Aren't they cool?

I thought that for gameplay's sake it is better to create different types of mushrooms ants can grow. Feeding larvae with different types produces different ant as a result. In real life ants eat mycelial material and not the fruits, but I've decided that they look cooler, even if this is a cliche. Also ants are all born the same and change their body size during their lives to perform different functions. But this is a game. It must be fun to play, even if unrealistic. In the end of the day, these are alien ants.
